To preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewellery, we recommend following these simple care practices:
- Remove jewellery before physical activity. Rings, bracelets, and chains should be taken off before engaging in heavy lifting, gardening, or using tools, as pressure and impact can damage settings and metal.
- Avoid contact with harsh chemicals. Household cleaners, chlorine, and beauty products like hairspray, lotions, and perfumes can dull finishes, weaken prongs, and cause discoloration.
- Never wear jewellery while swimming or in hot tubs. Chlorine and saltwater can corrode metals and loosen settings.
- Put jewellery on last. Lotions, hair products and perfumes can be damaging to jewellery.
- Have your jewellery inspected and professionally cleaned every 6 months. This helps identify wear or damage early, ensuring clasps, prongs, and settings are secure. At GNM Fine Jewellers, complimentary inspections and cleanings are always available, even when the jewellery was not purchased here.
